Pei played a crucial role in establishing OnePlus’ smartphone lineup, including the recently launched Nord smartphone. Pei is credited with devising marketing strategies to establish a foothold in the smartphone market for OnePlus’ offerings. During its initial years, the company majorly sold its phones through invites and other non-conventional means.
As per the report, Pei will instead start his own venture.
The development comes at a time when OnePlus is executing its new mass market strategy to win new customers across handset and smart TV categories. The company also working on building its services business.

Samsung had launched its first foldable smartphone in February this year, and made the phone available in India October 1 in India Rs 1,64,999. The device comes with a 7.10-inch along with 7.30-inch Dynamic AMOLED display and is powered by a 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. It has a 12 GB RAM bundled with a 512 GB internal storage. The new foldable device has a 12.0 MP + 16.0 MP + 12.0 MP, triple camera setup on the back and a 10.0 MP + 8.0 MP double camera setup on the front. The device comes with a 4380mAh battery and supports fast charge. The device runs on Android Pie as mentioned by the company. The phone’s 5G version is already available in South Korea, which has commercially launched 5G services.

Samsung, in November 2019, launched its W series of a foldable smartphone, W20 5G, currently available in China. The device is similar to global Fold variant in terms of screen size, but is powered the latest Qualcomm Xiaolong Snapdragon 855+ processor. It has a 12GB RAM bundled with a 512GB internal storage. The device comes with a 4235mAh battery.

Motorola, in November 2019, its first ever foldable phone at $1500. It comes with a 6.2-inch foldable pOLED primary display and a 2.7-inch gOLED secondary display. The device is powered by a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and has an internal storage capacity of 128 GB bundled with a 6 GB of RAM. The new device has a 2510mAh battery and a 15W TurboPower charger. The company also boasts about its 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera.

Huawei, in February 2019 launched its first foldable device Huawei Mate X with an 8.00-inch display. The device has a HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor. The Huawei Mate X comes with a triple camera setup with a 40MP + 16MP + 8MP lens. The company provides a storage capacity of 512GB bundled with 8GB of RAM. It has a 4500mAh battery for longer usage. It was made available in China at $2400.
