Students from all backgrounds graduated from the Willowton Bakery School in collaboration with the Al-Fidaa School of Baking on Tuesday, in a project to uplift and empower women.
Started in February 2020, the school offers women a four-week home bakers’ course, which gives them key skills required to start a home-based baking business for free to the impoverished, unemployed and unskilled in the community.
Executive chef and project manager on behalf of Al-Fidaa School of Baking, Clare Russell said the project was initiated due to Covid-19 and the rising rate of unemployment in the country.
